2005 - November 3rd - Thursday

JH went to see Dr Bailey: JH’s first conversation was about Kathy’s indebtedness; Dr Bailey volunteered the information that her husband was a vicar at St Paul’s Church in Stonehouse; neither she or her husband liked the commercialism involved with Christmas; she gave JH information about World Vision, an organisation which suggests what to get for presents for those that already have everything, JH could look them up on the Internet and request a brochure; perhaps it could be suggested to the Skinners that they could give this type of gift to JH who does have everything.

Dr Bailey realised that JH had already got a ‘hot line’ to the appropriate persons at Derriford although she would, of course, be happy to take bloods {but Sara had told JH that sometimes the specimens are not received in a fresh state as the GPs do not realise the urgency of getting them sent off promptly}.  JH repeated that she had only i) sent Dr Bailey a letter giving permission to release JH’s Medical History ii) offered to pay for a private GP Consultation in view of Kathy’s ‘instructions’ to so do: Dr Bailey stated that her Practice would certainly not charge (in any event, a letter from JH’s GP is not required).  JH was given a ‘flu jab as, although JH was not yet 65 she would be very shortly!  Action: let the Skinners know about meeting with GP – so that they can let Maggie know that all correspondence about JH will come via Derriford Hospital.

2005 - November 5th - Saturday

JH received a note, written on an envelope, together with two Hippo golf balls; the items had to be handed to JH by the postman as the package would not go through the letter box!  JH wrote out a ‘You knock me out!’ hippo card in which she realised that titanium balls would not break in the post; that she has other items from the Hippo Golf Co; that she had more of a social chat with Dr Bailey; that Dr Bailey had said that her husband was a vicar; that she realised that JH would be seen by a Nephrologist; JH told Kathy to tell Maggie to expect to hear from Derriford Hospital, not JH’s GP.
