2006 - August 9th - Wednesday

JH went to Renal Unit for check of her B/P and weight and spoke to Maria, one of the Nurses: JH’s B/P was 125/82, and weight was +/- 14st 9lb.  JH wondered if there was any likelihood that things might move along now, but Sara Stacey had gone away on A/L for 3/52; Maria undertook to give info of ‘weights and measures’ to Dr Denton and, if at all possible, enquire about what happens next.

2006 - August 11th - Friday

JH rang Renal Unit and spoke to Lyn: Maria had a half day and so was not there to report back to JH.

2006 - September 2nd - Saturday

Kathy phoned JH and said that when she and Ralph packed up after the picnic (Ralph was not feeling at all well – as previously noted) they lost a black laptop case which they left leaning against the tree; the case contained all the records of previous picnics and a photograph album; they had returned to the Park the following day but did not find the case; they had also contacted the Police.  JH told Kathy and Ralph that JH intended to write to the Head Park Keeper about the non-availability of the Public Toilets at the end of the theatrical performance; JH would also ask about the lost document case.  [JH regaled Kathy with the story of JH leaving her instruments in a phone box – which was even more careless than Kathy’s loss – but of course Kathy is very upset about losing all the memorabilia to do with the Greenwich picnics.]

Kathy and JH also mentioned the Change in the Law with regard to Transplants: there is now no longer a legal mandate on medical personnel et al to seek permission from relatives for removal of organs from patients in extremis, and also live donors who are non-related to patients in need of a kidney can offer to donate.

Kathy postponed discussion about meeting with JH in North Devon but JH confirmed the dates of the Skinners stay as:- arriving late afternoon Saturday 16 September 2006; dialysis at South Moulton Renal Annexe on Monday 17th, Tuesday 19th and Friday 22nd; return home on Saturday 23rd.  JH subsequently rang Hazel Barwise to ask if her house would be available for JH’s accommodation but, instead of Hazel going away for Grandson’s Christening, she is expecting seven guests at Stonyland!  JH did toy with the idea of staying in a Guest House, if Sue Hess – a ‘musical’ friend who lives near Wembworthy in North Devon - would be available to be visited by/meet with JH.
