2006 - February 22nd - Wednesday

JH spoke to Sara Stacey about the saga of the letters from Southend Hospital: Sara said that, when she last communicated with Maggie at Southend Hospital that she had NOT been asked for the name of a Nephrologist at Derriford; Sara also said that she had never received the letter forwarded on to Nephrology by Dr Allwood’s Secretary; also she would email Maggie Farrell at Southend and ask her to get a letter dispatched which should be actually addressed to Dr M Denton, Consultant Nephrologist.  JH undertook to contact Dr Allwood’s Secretary ‘without rancour’ to find out if she remembers where she sent the letter erroneously sent to Dr Allwood; also JH would contact Dr Fernando Moro-Azuela’s Secretary at Southend Hospital to have a chat with her to endorse Sara’s request for a personalised letter to be sent to Dr Denton.  JH rang both secretaries when she got home at about 1630 but neither were around and JH left messages on answerphones; JH would also consider whether she would chase up the ‘misunderstanding, possibly with the switchboard operator’.

2006 - February 23rd - Thursday

JH received phone call from Dr Moro-Azuela’s Secretary to the effect that she had indeed been told, upon enquiring at Derriford Hospital’s Switchboard, that Dr Allwood was a Nephrologist!  She had been rung up by Dr Allwood’s Secretary who told her that the letter had been sent to the Nephrology Department at Derriford.  JH also told Dr M-A’s Secretary that Sara required a letter actually addressed to Dr Mark Denton; also JH requested that the Secretary speak with Maggie Farrell to whom Sara was going to send an email requesting that she – Sara – be copied in with all the correspondence.

JH was phoned by Kathy who reported that Louise had had her baby but, as yet, no name had been decided upon; Kathy also reported that Maggie had told her yesterday that all the appropriate letters had been sent off.
