2006 - July 16th - Sunday

JH received a phone call from Kathy who asked JH about the whereabouts of the Family Tree; JH assured Kathy that the former had sent a copy back to her, so Kathy said that she would look about at home.  JH subsequently checked back in her KIDNEY DONATION DOCUMENT and found her entry for 19 January 2006 in which it is stated that Kathy told JH (telecom) that she had received the copy of the Family Tree back that day (Kathy was off to a hospital appointment on that day).

Kathy also asked JH if JH had started her blood-pressure tablets: JH explained that she expected Dr Thuraisingham to write to Dr Denton explaining that JH had high blood pressure when examined but that the policy was that, in a patient of JH’s age, they were still prepared to accept a kidney providing her blood pressure could be controlled with one therapeutic agent only: however, as over a week had gone by since our trip to the RLH JH undertook to enquire what to do - such as pop down to GP to get the tablets, or wait for Dr Denton to receive a letter from Dr Thuraisingham, or etc, etc – JH had in actual fact already attempted to speak to Sara Stacey on the phone but had not found her at the end of the phone.

Kathy also asked JH how heavy JH was, in the late 1980s, when she was nagged by her GP when her B/P was a bit borderline for +/- receiving treatment for high blood pressure; JH said not so heavy as now, and that JH had lost 3 stone in 4 months (but she would of course not lose it so quickly this time as she was older): Kathy was most impressed!

JH also told Kathy about her thoughts about having our operations in Plymouth but that, in any event, the Transplant Team at Plymouth would expect her to be followed up very frequently in Plymouth immediately after the operation: this would of course be very disruptive to Kathy and the only advantage of having the operation in Plymouth would be if we did not have to wait until March 2007.  Kathy and Ralph were off to visit one of Kathy’s daughters and, just then, the signal on Kathy’s phone started cracking up – so the matter was not discussed further.
