2006 - March 7th - Tuesday

Kathy phoned JH (just as JH was rushing out of the door to catch the bus to play music) to check if JH had any news; JH to contact Sara the following day to ask.

2006 - March 10th - Friday

JH phoned Sara (having not done so earlier); Sara went to look on Dr Denton’s Desk and could not find letter but, via a further phone call, JH was told that the letter had been found so there was no need for JH to have her copy photocopied.  JH phoned the Skinners and spoke to Ralph; JH enquired after the new baby’s name – Alexander; JH reported that she had contacted Sara and arrangements for JH’s appointment were in hand; Ralph stated that he was still unable to work because of his injury.

2006 - March 22nd - Wednesday

JH received an appointment for Wednesday 12 April 2006 which, obviously, was for JH to be vetted for placement on some sort of Transplant List!  JH endeavoured to phone Sara Stacey, and also ‘Lynne, Our Transplant Assessment Clerk’ (at Derriford Hospital Renal Department, NOT Lyn Headon but another Lynne! ).

2006 - March 23rd - Thursday

JH finally got through to a member of the nursing staff; apparently Sara Stacey was on A/L, and the usual appointment Clerk was on Maternity Leave – hence the ‘interesting’ appointment letter being received by JH.  A three-way conversation was held between, the Acting Clerk, the Nurse and JH; apparently a young man of 37 with two young children was, in any case, in need of JH’s appointment slot.  Action: JH to email and/or phone Sara on Monday 27 March 2006 when Sara returns from A/L

Kathy phoned JH in the evening (just as JH was going to pick up the phone herself) to request a report on progress!  Kathy was entertained that JH was ‘mistaken’ for the potential recipient.  JH chatted to Kathy and told her that she had watched the film Downfall, the German film about Hitler’s last days in his bunker; Kathy told JH that the former had, actually, visited Auschwitz.
