2007 - April 22nd - Sunday

JH received an email reply from Kathy at Southend Hospital: Kathy was still in Southend Hospital instead of Paphos and ‘. . . feeling terrible.’.

2007 - April 24th - Tuesday

JH RECEIVED TWO EMAILS FROM RAY: ONE OFFERING JH AN INDEPENDENT ASSESSOR’S APPOINTMENT ON 14TH MAY, AND THE OTHER EMAIL OFFERING JH THE PROVISIONAL DATE - 19TH JUNE 2007 - FOR TRANSPLANT NEPHRECTOMY

JH SENT A REPLY TO EFFECT THAT THE JUNE DATE WAS FINE BUT SHE HAD ALREADY SAID THAT 14TH MAY WAS THE DAY HER SISTER ARRIVED FROM GERMANY AND TRAVELLED DOWN TO PLYMOUTH.  JH said that she was all geared up to come to the James Hora Home on the nights of 2nd and 3rd May; JH went through the options of dates for the IA appointment, and also mentioned that 11.30am would be more convenient for her – so that she would not have to set off at the crack of dawn, if staying in Maidenhead with Ann.

JH rang the Skinners to give them the Good News: Kathy was home with Ralph and they were preparing their evening meal; although Kathy was still not feeling completely well, she was of course very pleased to receive the news.  However, JH did say that she would not be able to be at the IA appointment offered for the 14th May.  Kathy wrote things down carefully as still rather ‘forgetful’ – on her own admission!

2007 - April 25th - Wednesday

JH had chat with Mary Andrews – including telling her about the proposed date for transplant nephrectomy; JH POSTED OFF THE COPIES OF THE PHOTOS TO KATHY.

2007 - April 26th - Thursday

JH received a letter from Ann to say that the latter was arriving at 12.30pm on 14th May at London City Airport: JH rang Ray to reinstate the appointment to see the Independent Assessor on 14th May – although she would still prefer it to be at 11.30am.  In fact Ray had not been able to access his emails – because his computer was down - and so had not altered the date of the appointment in any case.

JH received a Call Minder Message from Kathy:  She had been re-admitted to hospital on the previous day with problems with her arm.  JH  rang Ralph who explained that Kathy’s surgical wound on her arm was again painful and, furthermore, rather smelly; Ralph took her along to see their GP who said he didn’t like the look of that – and prescribed antibiotics and pain killers.  However, Ralph was so concerned that he roused Kathy, who had retired to bed in the afternoon, and took her - in her dressing gown - back to Southend Hospital; the following morning [ie, this morning] Kathy had the wound explored and an infected clot was removed; Kathy then started to receive i/v antibiotics.  Yet again the Skinners were not very enamoured with their GP [although Kathy was somewhat ‘out of it’] and Ralph was thinking again of changing to another GP.
