2007 - August 5th - Sunday

JH received an email message from Kathy {tacked onto the end of some pre-operative emails – this must be something to do with Yahoo, Kathy’s Provider}.  Kathy said she was ‘just back’ on the computer after all this time; she was pleased we all met on Thursday, 2nd August; she had had X rays of her back and legs in view of her ‘problems’.

[no entries for 30th, 31st July, and 3rd, 4th August]

EIGHTH POSTOPERATIVE WEEK COMMENCING 6 AUGUST 2007

At the beginning of her eighth postoperative week, JH was on ‘fine form’ comparatively speaking!  JH got on with all her ‘activities of daily living’, continued with the documentation of her ‘exploits’, wrote letters/emails to whoever, was updated via phone calls with K & R, and the rest.  However . . . on Friday 10th August JH acquired a self-inflicted whiplash injury: OH DEAR!

2007 - August 6th - Monday

JH sorted all her hard-copy bits of paper to do with her Donation and raised a Peri-operative & Postoperative File

2007 - August 7th - Tuesday

JH sorted out her email folders to do with her Donation and deleted all pre-operative emails; JH sent an email to the Skinners mentioning:- JH and Mary were pleased to meet them on 2nd August; JH explained the outcome of JH’s consultation in the Renal Outpatients Department – with the Surgical Registrar - and that the Registrar was concerned to hear that Kathy was having mobility problems.  JH was most interested to read Yesterday’s Town: Maidenhead (given to JH by Ralph) and plans to send the book to Ann, in Germany.  Furthermore JH explained that - the train back to Plymouth on 2nd August - was late arriving at Plymouth, but that Mary was provided with a taxi by British Rail to get her to Tavistock.  JH added that Mary & JH were planning a trip to a local garden centre tomorrow.

2007 - August 8th - Wednesday

JH received a reply from Kathy [on a ‘new’ email window as requested] explaining that her back X-rays had possibly shown some pushing or pulling on sciatic nerves, and an MRI scan was going to be arranged at the RLH with a view to referring Kathy back to her Orthopaedic Consultant, Mr Sudlow, who had done surgery on her back in 1987.  Kathy wondered if JH’s sciatica was ‘catching’!  Quite So!  Ralph needs to know what colour JH’s Morris 1000 was ‘ASAP’; JH wondered, rather apprehensively, why he needed to know this, as JH’s house is already rather full, and JH had given her Morris regalia to the Cornwall MM1000C in 1998 – when she sold her Traveller.  Kathy also gave JH the name of the Sister on Paulin Ward, to whom she had last spoken – Judith Uzoho – and also gave JH several phone numbers.
