2007 - June 13th - Wednesday

JH told various persons at Derriford Hospital about her impending departure: Jeremy Smith, Librarian; Pat Seymour, WRVS; A&E Receptionist (whose name is not remembered); and Esme, WRVS; also JH left a note for Jane Moss requesting that Jane continues to collect up the milk bottle tops for JH.  In the evening, at an Event at the Plymouth Centre for Faiths and Cultural Diversity, JH introduced Lyn Headon – in her capacity as Locum Minute Secretary – to Jonathan Marshall.

JH sent an email to Ray asking if she should be receiving an admission letter, and mentioning her rather circuitous journey home via Waterloo!  JH replied to Kathy’s email of 11th June by copying her in with the email to Ray – so that she could explain why she got home so late on 11th!

2007 - June 14th - Thursday

Ray replied to the effect that he doubted JH would receive a letter, as the Surgeon’s Secretary had just left!  JH sent the list of Addresses and Telephone Numbers to Su Watson and Mary Andrews.  Kathy sent an email to JH commiserating with JH’s travel difficulties; she said she would be phoning the Hospital on Sunday morning for instructions; she would telephone JH to confirm her plans; Ralph had decided not to stay overnight in JHH on 17th June.

JH sent an email to Sara Stacey: JH said that she no longer needed any replacement booklets as she had collected some from Ray; JH told Sara that Kathy was still not too good but put it down to nerves; JH expressed her apprehension about being ‘invaded’ by people – amongst other anxieties – but that she had met persons ‘worse off than herself’ in JHH.  Sara replied: JH can always find booklets in a box under her desk if necessary.

Friday 15 June 2007

JH received an admission letter from the Admissions Office: JH rang up the Admissions Office to tell this lady that JH was planning to come to the Hospital on Sunday, not Monday as stated on the Letter – this kind lady seemed to know exactly who JH was, before JH gave her name!  Su Watson acknowledged receipt of the list.

Ann Elflein et al, and Anne Dunk both phoned JH to give JH their best wishes for her coming Personal Adventure!

2007 - June 16th - Saturday

KATHY AND JH HAD THEIR LAST CONVERSATION ON THE PHONE!  Kathy said that Ralph had decided not to stay at JHH; she told JH that one of the family was preparing a Father’s Day meal for Ralph for tomorrow; Ralph was, himself, not too good – but this was to be expected because of all his anxiety about Kathy; JH reiterated her concerns about being surrounded by PEOPLE, and also her fears of having trouble with her BOWELS; Kathy said that, when she had been admitted with gastric enteritis, that she had been provided with pairs of pants – upon which JH recollected that, when she had gone to Hyde Park Pharmacy to buy disposable pants, etc, it had been suggested by their Physiotherapist that JH could ask the Hospital for supplies; Kathy said that one family from her extended family had gone to their caravan; Kathy said she was all packed; Kathy will be getting to the Hospital at about teatime; JH plans to get there late afternoon.

JH rang Mary to check that Mary had received the list and printed it off the Oxfam computer.  JH ‘confirmed’ Mary’s movements; JH realised that she had misheard the date that Mary was cat-sitting for Mary Haddock as the 2nd July, whereas it will be the 7th July; Mary had told JH this several times!

JH sent list to Sharon Lambert by email to which Sharon promptly replied: she had been on a canal boating holiday with her mother when JH had rung up to find out her email address.

Ruth, in JHH, phoned JH to confirm JH’s arrival tomorrow, late in the evening; JH explained that she would only need the bed if there was none available on Paulin Ward, but that JH would leave a message one way or the other on Ruth’s CM.
