2007 - March 7th - Wednesday

JH called on Sara in the Renal Unit: JH had tried to phone Sara several times from the WRVS but, fortunately, immediately bumped into Sara in the Renal Unit.  Sara said that she had, that day, taken a request form up to the PIU for JH to have an angiogram with dye – she was hoping that the Folks in the Imaging Department would not quibble; she had had some exchanges of emails with Ray who had told her that Mr Chawdhery would not remove a kidney for transplant without the donor having had an angiogram via injection of dye into the groin, in other words, a CT angiogram was NOT acceptable; Sara had been sent a copy of a letter from Mr Chawdhery to Dr Thuraisingham – about K&J’s last appointment.  Sara undertook to write, on the request form, that JH was not available on 20th March (JH taking PCFCD Minutes); Sara doubted if JH would get an appointment before then.

JH asked if she could see her ECG tracing – which she had meant to look at when she had hold of her notes!  Sara looked all through JH’s notes and could not find the ECG tracing – although she recollected attaching it to the front of JH’s notes with JH’s ‘anxious’ email; following this failure to find the investigation report, JH was dispatched to the ECG Department to have another ECG – which the ECG technician told JH was normal (and which remark further convinced JH that the lost tracing had shown ectopic beats).  JH’s weight (with 6lb deducted for clothes) was 15 stone 2 pounds – which made her BMI 33; her B/P was 147/89 (diastolic a bit high), pulse 70.  Sara immediately presented Dr Denton with all this information and Dr Denton, on seeing JH walking towards him down the corridor, exclaimed that JH was looking much slimmer!  Dr Denton observed that the RLH was ‘old fashioned’ in requiring an ‘ordinary’ angiogram, and JH countered that, no doubt, all the cats and dogs in the Vivisection Department there were all very well looked after to a modern standard – JH also observed that she should not be mischievous!

When JH had first gone into the office on the Renal Unit, she had said ‘Hello’ to Jemma Harvey, who had previously been Mr Palmer’s Secretary in Neurosurgery; subsequently, JH passed Jemma in the corridor (together with one of the Renal Unit’s Nurses) and JH asked why she kept bumping into Jemma [JH recollected seeing Jemma speaking to Sister on the PIU during October 2006] – the latter explaining that she was now a Support Manager in the Renal Unit.  When JH popped her head round the door of the Manager’s office, Jemma was rather embarrassed - about 3 people seemed to be holding a chat-session: however, JH stated that she will explain to Jemma, at a convenient moment, as to why JH is frequenting the Renal Unit.  Lyn Headon was aware that JH had worked with Jemma; Lyn thought that Jemma had a lot to learn about working in the Renal Unit.  On JH’s arrival, Lyn had seemed to be giving a few members of staff some sort of explanation about booking appointments.

2007 - March 11th - Sunday

JH phoned Kathy and explained the saga of JH needing to have a repeat angiogram; JH explained that – in no way – did JH wish to imply that either of the Hospitals were ‘wrong’ or ‘right’ but that this request was based on professional judgement – which was just as it should be.  Kathy did begin to fade a bit whilst talking to JH but she was in good spirits; she had been for a swim that morning.  JH phoned Mary Andrews - to bend a sympathetic ear about this further delay.
