JH received a CM message from Ray Trevitt – asking JH if she was OK, and got home safely!


 

2007 - May 9th - Wednesday

JH phoned Ray back and left a message to the effect that she was fine!

JH called into the Renal Unit and told Sara Stacey the Saga of JH descending to the floor after her angiogram!  JH also spoke to Lyn's colleague Margaret, as Lyn was away, and asked her to give two messages to Lyn.  {When proof-reading this text, JH observed that she had, by then, been informed that ‘Lyn’ only has one ‘n’ – so she has corrected the spelling of Lyn’s name - from now on.}  Firstly, JH requested the return of JH’s book Waterlog, and associated bits and pieces, and secondly wished Lyn to be asked if she would take the Minutes of the Plymouth Centre for Faiths and Cultural Diversity, on Thursday, 21st June – which Lyn had already said she was prepared to do, if JH was away, which JH will be! 

As JH was going to a Green Space Energy Focus Group (see video clip at the bottom of the page) at 6.00pm at Windsor House, which is directly opposite the Hospital in Tavistock Road, she stayed at the Hospital until this meeting: JH bumped into Tony Yeldham, Chaplain at Derriford, whom JH knows well.  JH explained what she was ‘up to’ upon which Tony asked JH if she had seen the Independent Assessor yet – as he, himself, is an Independent Assessor; JH told Tony that she was going for her AI appointment on 14th May.  Action: give Tony Yeldham Transplant Diary to read, in due course

2007 - May 10th - Thursday

JH had a long conversation with Ray on the telephone:  JH explained that the Skinners were still eager to pay towards JH’s travel expenses and, furthermore, Kathy had suggested that JH could claim for some expenses; JH endorsed her statement that she did not ‘need’ either to be reimbursed in any way by the Skinners, or claim from another/any source; Ray informed JH that she could only claim from her local cashier at Derriford, if she was on some sort of allowance, such as Income Support; Ray also stated that he has, in the past, written out a letter of confirmation for a live donor to present to the recipient’s Primary Care Trust; JH countered that she was only asking Ray for this information so that she could tell Kathy that she HAD enquired, not because she had any intention of making a claim.

JH explained JHH’s Wardens’ concern about JH having been booked in to JHH by Ray, for a procedure - on the appointment letter for which was quite clearly stated that the patient had to stay with someone for 24 hours afterwards; Ray replied to the effect that he had not realised the import of JH’s comment, in an email, that she really should have snapped up a husband for eventualities like this!  In fact, Ray said that he did not realise this instruction was so clearly stated on the letter [in spite of sending them out to patients for ages{JH}]; he told JH that he would apologise to the Wardens for inappropriately booking JH in to stay, on her own, after the angiogram: JH was pleased that he was prepared to do this.  JH told Ray that she had booked a bed for the night of Sunday, 13 May, ie, prior to her appointment with the IA. 

JH also read out the title of the Leaflet she already had: Human Tissue Authority information about living-donor transplants; Ray confirmed that this was the leaflet which JH had not been able to open electronically.  JH also told Ray about having a chat with Derriford’s Chaplain, Tony Yeldham, who is an IA: Ray said that the Chaplain at the RLH had applied to be an IA but, as yet, had not done ‘The Course’ JH attempted to send an email – with the messages she had given to Margaret to give to Lyn – to Lyn herself, but JH’s emails were undeliverable.   

JH was asked, by Ray, to bring a copy of her birth certificate in one piece, not in two – to which JH replied that she had sent an A3 copy in the first instance!  However, Ray ‘admitted’ that he must have put the A3 copy into JH’s renal department notes.  Furthermore, Ray requested that JH bring her Passport – even though it was several years OOD.
