Hipsey Family Tree: Addendum 13th January 2006

Contacts made to Kathy and Ralph Skinner via telecom from Thailand, and Spain: Jeanette Hipsey was contacted by Ralph on 13 January 2006 with a request that JH look up some information on the Hard Copy of the Family Tree; JH decided to check that the two copies of the Family Tree both had the same updates thereon, and then to send Kathy back one copy – so that Kathy could study the Family Tree for herself!

Kathy’s Brother, Edwin, and his wife, Pat, were holidaying in Thailand where they met Janet and her husband who are teachers in Ireland (query surname, query retired) and so rang their daughter, Louise [whom Kathy is keeping an eye on as Louise is pregnant and due early in 2006]: information was therefore required about:-

Kathy’s and Janet’s Great Grand Father, Robert Hipsey, born 5. 3. 1833, Married Jane Samson in 1859, Robert died on 23. 3. 1910

A relative who had died in the First World War; his grave could not be found, therefore, query he was executed because he was possibly a Conscientious Objector: recorded as ‘Killed in Action Somme France Oct 1916’ – Janet’s Uncle – on FT

twins who died at birth: written on FT as ‘Molly [or Holly] and Micky’ Janet’s siblings [there is no other information recorded, what is more, JH found 4 other sets of twins on FT]

Edwin Hipsey, born 25. 6. 1859, married Minnie White in 1917, Edwin Hipsey died in 1959; they had a son, Robert who was killed in Action in the Second World War in Burma IN 1942. [JH was told on the phone that one of Kathy’s Cousin’s had been Mayor of Lancaster – presumably somebody on a different branch of the FT]

JH was told an Email address which she did write down accurately – assumably for Janet’s family.

Apparently, a lady from Malaga in Spain rang up Louise and/or Kathy: This lady is, by descent, one of the Hipsey Clan, and she mentioned that there were twins in her family, in any event, as no other information was given to and/or requested of JH, JH does not know which set of twins the lady was referring to!

JH dispatched a hard copy of the Family Tree to Kathy on Wednesday 18 January 2006

FURTHER NOTE Whilst JH was studying the FT she could not find a record of William John Hipsey, deceased aged 80 on 24 October 1956, and buried in Steeple Churchyard. Assumably he was born in 1876 – or possibly 1875 before his 81st birthday.
